Baidu is notorious nowadays with its terrible download speed and now compulsory download software, and this is their business model to earn money.
I would suggest using IDM and using some tempermonkey script (or download link analyser )to bypass it. With proper setting in IDM and some other cracking website you can get it pretty easy.

Its extremely slow for every non-paying customer, whether the person is in China or not. The only way to make it quicker is to pay or bypass. The Chinese police arrested a programmer for making a bypassing software for the baidu pan couple monthes ago, citing this software makes baidu losing upto ten million Chinese yuan revenue.

Baidu is so hard to use.
